In 1907, a young maintenance Swedish engineer Sven Winqvist in Gothenburg invented the first self-aligning ball bearings, to relieve his frustration over continuous bearing failures, and successfully founded the company Aktiebolaget Svenska Kullagerfabriken – SKF in 1907.

Today, SKF is a leading global supplier of bearings, seals, mechatronics, lubrication systems and services. SKF is represented in more than 130 countries in the world and have about 108 production units in 32 countries, employing around 44868 staff and some 17,000 authorized distributors and dealers worldwide. Annual sales in 2016 were SEK 72.787million. With its e-business marketplace and global distribution system, SKF is always close to its customers for the supply of both products and services.

SKF has a long history in China. In 1912, SKF started its business in China through agent.  In 1916, the first sales company was established in Shanghai, China. Today SKF has more than3600employees in China, 18manufacturing units, several service units and sales offices, andover250 distributor sites to workclosewiththe Chinese customers. In 2010, SKF opened a new Global Technical CentreChinain Shanghai. In 2011, the Fourth Asia Fortune Forum Annual Conference authorized SKF with “Asian Force Award”. SKF China head office is located in Shanghai.In 2012, SKF celebrates its 100 year anniversary in China.
